Downtown Buenos Aires

  • Casa Rosada and Plaza de Mayo:Casa Rosada is the seat of the Argentine government and is located in the iconic Plaza de Mayo, a historic center of protests and important events in Argentine history.

    • Casa Rosada Museum: situated in the Casa Rosada, the iconic Argentine presidential palace, and offers exhibitions that tell the political and social history of Argentina.   • Metropolitan Cathedral:Located near Plaza de Mayo, it is a beautiful church with impressive architecture. Pope Francis, before becoming Pope, was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires. During his time as archbishop, he regularly attended the Metropolitan Cathedral to celebrate masses and religious events.

  • Avenida de Mayo: It is one of the most emblematic avenues in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It connects Plaza de Mayo, in the heart of the city, to Plaza del Congreso. It is known for its impressive architecture, full of historic buildings and important monuments. Along Avenida de Mayo, you will find several traditional cafes, such as the famous Café Tortoni, as well as shops, theaters and many tourist attractions. It is an unmissable place for anyone visiting Buenos Aires, offering a rich insight into the city's history and culture.

    • Café Tortoni: is a famous café, founded in 1858, it is one of the oldest in the city and a cultural icon. The place is known for its traditional architecture, classic decoration, tango performances and for having been frequented by several historical figures, such as writers, artists and politicians.

  • Basilica of the Blessed Sacrament: It is one of the most impressive churches in the city, known for its stunning architecture and rich history. The basilica is an important landmark and attracts both tourists and local worshippers.

  • Peace Palace: It is considered an architectural landmark in the city. The palace has an eclectic architectural style, mixing neo-Renaissance and baroque influences. It is the headquarters of the Buenos Aires Military Circle and also houses a museum with various exhibitions related to Argentine history and culture.

  • Mafalda: is a much-loved comic book character created by Argentine cartoonist Quino. Although Mafalda lives in San Telmo, a fictional neighborhood in Buenos Aires, in reality there is no specific physical place that represents her location in the city. However, fans often associate Mafalda with San Telmo due to the bohemian and historic atmosphere of that neighborhood, which seems to coincide with the environment portrayed in the comics.

  • Story walk: It is a tourist circuit that pays homage to characters from Argentine comic books. Located in the Monserrat neighborhood, the tour consists of bronze statues of iconic characters such as Mafalda, Isidoro Cañones, Patoruzú and many others. These statues are scattered throughout the streets, forming a pleasant route for comic book fans and tourists who want to explore this cultural part of Buenos Aires. In addition to the statues, there are murals and works of art related to the characters along the route. It's a great way to learn a little more about Argentine comics culture while exploring the city.

  • Barolo Palace: it was built between 1919 and 1923 by Italian architect Mario Palanti. It was designed with inspiration from Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy", with three parts representing Hell, Purgatory and Paradise, corresponding to the three floors of the building. The Palacio Barolo offers guided tours where tourists can explore its corridors and climb to the lighthouse at the top, which provides an incredible panoramic view of the city of Buenos Aires. Additionally, there is a mix of architectural elements

  • San Martin Palace: It is known for its impressive architecture and for housing the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship. The palace was built between 1905 and 1909 and is considered an important landmark in the city. It is situated close to other notable tourist attractions, such as Plaza San Martín and Calle Florida. Palacio San Martín welcomes visitors on special occasions, such as exhibitions or cultural events, and its imposing facade is an architectural highlight in the central region of Buenos Aires. It was an important place for the dissemination of Enlightenment ideas in Latin America.​

  • La Manzana de las luces: located in the historic center of the city, close to Plaza de Mayo, it is a historical and cultural place. This complex houses several historic buildings, including the Church of San Ignacio, one of the oldest in the city, built in the 17th century by Jesuit priests. In addition to the church, you can find the old building of the University of Buenos Aires, the Cabildo Secular, where the local government operated during the colonial period, among other important buildings.  The area is known as "La Manzana de las Luces" due to the fact that, during the 18th century, it was a place of intense cultural, educational and scientific activity, being one of the main centers of knowledge at the time. One of its most striking features is the presence of underground passages and tunnels connecting the buildings, which allowed students and religious people to move discreetly and safely in turbulent times. Today, this place is a popular tourist destination, where guided tours are offered to explore its historic architecture, underground tunnels and learn about its cultural relevance in the history of Buenos Aires and Argentina.​

    • Council: It was built during the Spanish colonial period and played a significant role in the country's history. The Cabildo was the administrative and political center during Spanish rule and was the scene of important events, such as the May Revolution of 1810, which led to Argentina's independence.

  • Basilica Maria Auxiliadora and San Carlos: It is an important landmark in the city and is part of the Salesian congregation. The basilica is known for its impressive architecture and the historical and religious importance it represents for the local Catholic community.

  • Avenida 9 de Julio: is one of the most important and wide avenues in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is known for its impressive width, being one of the widest avenues in the world, with up to seven lanes in each direction, separated by wide medians. The avenue was named in honor of the date of Argentine independence, July 9, 1816. It cuts through several neighborhoods in the city and is famous for points of interest such as the Obelisk, one of the icons of Buenos Aires, located at the intersection of Avenida 9 de Julho and Avenida Corrientes.

    • Obelisk: built in 1936 to commemorate the fourth centenary of the city's founding. Located on Avenida 9 de Julio, one of the widest avenues in the world, the obelisk is an important landmark and a symbol of the Argentine capital.


La Boca

  • A colorful neighborhood of La Boca, famous for its colorful houses, cobblestone streets, street artists and tango.

    • Caminito​: is a famous street, known for its colorful zinc and wooden houses, which have been restored and turned into a popular tourist attraction. The area is quite picturesque, with many craft shops, restaurants and local artists displaying their work outdoors. Caminito is also famous for its strong link to tango, with dancers often performing along the street. It is an iconic place to visit and experience the vibrant culture of Buenos Aires.

    • La Bombonera Stadium: is one of the most famous football stadiums in the world and is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is the stadium of Boca Juniors, one of the most renowned clubs in South America.

      • Museum of the Pasion Boquense

    • Usina del Arte: is a cultural center located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is a space dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of visual arts, music, dance and other artistic expressions.

    • Fundación Proa: is a contemporary art cultural institution that presents exhibitions, educational programs and events related to modern and contemporary art, both by Argentine and international artists.

    • Benito Quinquela Martin Museum: is dedicated to the famous Argentine artist Benito Quinquela Martín, known for his colorful works that portray port life and the daily lives of the inhabitants of La Boca. The museum houses a permanent collection of the artist's works, as well as temporary exhibitions by other Argentine artists and cultural events.


Recoleta

  • This neighborhood is home to the famous Recoleta cemetery, where the tomb of Eva Perón and other Argentine personalities is located, as well as being a charming neighborhood with cafes, art galleries and shops.

    • Recoleta Cemetery:​It is known for its tombs and impressive architecture. The cemetery houses the tombs of several prominent personalities in Argentine history, including politicians, artists, writers, the most famous being the tomb of Eva Perón, one of the country's most iconic figures. Its diverse architectural style and the elaborate details on each tomb make it a unique and fascinating tourist destination. There are guided tours around the cemetery, which allows visitors to travel among the tombs and their stories. 

    • Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar:It is one of the oldest churches in the city with an important historical and religious landmark, it has a rich history linked to the Spanish colonization in Argentina. It was built by Spanish colonizers, the architecture is neo-Gothic in style.

    • Recoleta Cultural Center: is known for offering a wide variety of cultural activities, art exhibitions, performances, concerts, workshops and various events. The venue is housed in a former convent, the Convento dos Padres Recoletos, and offers several exhibition rooms, a theater, workshop spaces and outdoor areas for events.

    • Floraris Generic: is a metallic sculpture located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was designed by Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano and opened in 2002. The sculpture is a giant flower made of steel and aluminum, which opens and closes during the day and night, functioning as a symbol of renewal and hope. It is located in the center of a park called Plaza de las Naciones Unidas, close to the Recoleta neighborhood. Its opening and closing movement is controlled by a hydraulic system, which responds to sunlight conditions.

    • Faculty of Law University of Buenos Aires

    • Recoleta Mall:Shopping Recoleta is known for being in one of the most elegant and sophisticated neighborhoods in the city, offering a variety of stores, from international brands to local stores, as well as restaurants, cafes and entertainment options.

    • Buenos Aires Holocaust Museum:the museum offers permanent and temporary exhibitions, documentaries, personal testimonies, historical artifacts and educational programs. Its main objective is to keep the memory of the victims alive and warn about the dangers of hatred, prejudice and intolerance.

    • Bond Street Gallery: a shopping center focused on items related to pop culture, such as alternative clothing, accessories, vinyl records, collectors' items and much more. The gallery is a popular destination for those interested in alternative fashion, music and geek culture.

    • Colon Theatre: One of the most renowned opera houses in the world, known for its stunning architecture and exceptional performances.


Puerto Madero

  • It is a port with a revitalized area, modern skyscrapers, elegant restaurants and a lively riverside atmosphere.

    • Puente de la mujer​: is a swinging bridge designed by renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, opened in 2001. Its elegant and distinctive shape represents a couple dancing tango, an Argentine cultural icon. The bridge stands out for its asymmetrical structure and ability to rotate to allow vessels to pass through the Rio de la Plata. It is a popular tourist attraction and a significant architectural landmark in Buenos Aires.

    • Buque Museu Fragata ARA Presidente Sarmiento: is a museum ship that was commissioned in 1897 as an Argentine Navy training ship and served until 1961. It has since been transformed into a floating museum. The vessel is open to the public and offers a fascinating insight into Argentina's naval history, with exhibits about life on board and the Navy's activities during the period it was in service.

    • Costanera Sur: It is a protected area that offers a great diversity of flora and fauna, being an urban refuge for wildlife and a popular place for outdoor activities such as hiking, bird watching and cycling. Made up of swamps, lagoons and a variety of habitats, the reserve is an ideal destination for those looking for an experience close to nature in the heart of a major city.

    • Costanera Norte: It is an important avenue that runs along the Rio da Prata and offers a beautiful view of the river. The Costanera Norte area is known for its outdoor leisure options, such as parks, cycle paths, walking spaces and also some seaside restaurants. Palermo

  • Palermo is a vibrant neighborhood, full of parks, bars, trendy restaurants and design shops.

    • Palermo Forest​: It is one of the largest green spaces in the city. San Telmo

  • Street fairs: Fairs such as the San Telmo Fair (on Sundays) and the Mataderos Fair offer an insight into local culture, with crafts, music and dance.

    • Plaza Dorrego: is an iconic square located in the San Telmo neighborhood, it is known for its historical and cultural atmosphere, being a popular tourist spot in the city. The square is famous for hosting the San Telmo Antiques Fair on Sundays.

    • Fair and Flea Market​: This fair is a very popular tourist spot. It takes place on Sundays along Calle Defensa, where you can find an incredible variety of antiques, crafts, vintage clothing, artwork and much more. It's a great place to explore, experience local culture, find unique items, and even watch street artists perform. In addition, there are several food stalls offering typical delicacies, such as empanadas and churros, to enjoy while you enjoy the fair.

    • Barolo Palace: designed by Italian architect Mario Palanti and completed in 1923. This building was inspired by Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" and has many architectural and symbolic elements related to the poem.

    • Minimum House: It is the smallest house in the city and is an interesting tourist attraction. Just 2.5 meters wide, it was built between two larger buildings and has two floors, showing an intelligent use of space in such a small area. Despite its small size, Casa Mínima attracts curious visitors due to its unique architecture and the way it maximizes every available centimeter.

    • El Zanjon de Granados: It is a museum and archaeological site, known for its archaeological excavations that have revealed traces of the city's history, including underground canals, ancient walls and objects from the colonial period. The site offers guided tours where visitors can explore the ruins and learn about the site's fascinating history. It is an interesting place for anyone interested in the history of Buenos Aires and its origins.

    • National Historical Museum: is dedicated to the preservation and display of the country's history. The museum features a broad collection of artifacts, documents and exhibits spanning from pre-Columbian times to the present day, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of Argentine history.

    • Kirchner Cultural Center:formerly known as "Palacio de Correos e Telecommunications", it was renovated and reopened as a cultural center in 2015, being an important meeting point for diverse artistic expressions, such as music, dance, theater, art exhibitions and much more.: 

    • El Solar de French Gallery: It's an art gallery. This cultural space is housed in a historic building and is known for displaying contemporary art by Argentine and international artists.

    • Defense passage: is a charming historic passage situated in the San Telmo neighborhood, known for its unique architectural style and its craft shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants.

    • Russian Orthodox Apostolic Church: is one of the largest denominations of Orthodox Christianity in the world. It dates back to the times of the Byzantine Empire and has a rich cultural and religious history in Russia.

    • Gallery of Asombro: wax museum, with an exhibition of surprising and super realistic things from Aliens, Monsters and Zombies.


Belgrano

  • The Belgrano neighborhood in Buenos Aires is an elegant and diverse residential area known for its peaceful atmosphere and tree-lined streets.

    • River Plate Stadium​: is the home of Club Atlético River Plate, one of the most important football clubs in Argentina

      • River Plate Museum

    • Parque de la Memoria:dedicated to the memory of the victims of the military regime that took place in Argentina between 1976 and 1983. This park is an important memorial that honors those who were victims of the regime, exposing information about the missing and offering a place for reflection and remembrance.

    • Enrique Larreta Spanish Art Museum: the museum is known for housing a collection of Spanish art, including works by renowned painters such as El Greco, Goya and Velázquez, among others. Enrique Larreta, an Argentine writer, was responsible for this collection, and the house where the museum is located is an attraction in itself, for its architecture and gardens.

    • Chinatown: It is a vibrant and colorful place, full of shops, restaurants and markets offering Chinese products and cuisine.

    • Tierra Santa: is a religious-themed park, recreating the atmosphere of Jerusalem during biblical times. There, you'll find replicas of holy sites like the Western Wall and the Temple Mount, as well as shows and performances depicting biblical events.


Retreat

  • Retiro is also where the main railway station, Estação Retiro, is located, which connects the city to other regions of Argentina.

    • Monumental Tower: also known as the English Tower, it is an architectural icon. It was built at the end of the 19th century to honor British immigrants to Argentina. At around 67 meters high, it offers an incredible panoramic view of the city.


Balvanera

  • It is known for its cultural diversity, historic architecture and lively urban life. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city and is home to tourist attractions such as Avenida Corrientes, known for its theaters and bookstores, and Mercado de Abasto, which is an important shopping center.
